HP/LeftHand – Acquisition
Hewlett-Packard acquired LeftHand Networks on October 1 to open its market to the new logic of storage virtualization, storage clustering, or rather commodity-based storage clusters.
LeftHand Networks, a pioneer in iSCSI SAN technology, offers scalable storage software for the standard hardware industry. With the LeftHand, HP’s portfolio of virtualization solutions for small and medium-sized businesses is extended, reducing training and overall complexity of use and using common and cost-effective storage servers. As a result, companies can move to a SAN for the significantly lower cost, manage their data more easily, and scale their data storage infrastructure as incrementally as their business does.
We had already looked at this technology in particular SAN/iQ and had already had discussions about it with many storage professionals, including friends at HP.
Another apt prediction for VMengine, always ahead of its time
